Jackson Kienitz
Jackson is an actor and writer, with a background in new work for theatre and independent film. Recent writing includes "HONEYDEW NO.2," a satire of American agribusiness, first performed at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, directed by Cecilia Thoden van Velzen, and produced by Karin Hoelzl. His one-act play "Petnames," a tragicomic end to an adulterous relationship, will be staged in his 98-sq-ft bedroom this spring. He’s written and performed in multiple short-films, including "The Speech Writer," a solo-performance film, and "When We’re Back," a film constructed in ensemble through long-form improvisation. As actor, he’s currently playing the leading role Danny in "Sinkholes," a surrealist apocalypse film directed by Graham Cooper. He holds a BA in Creative Writing and Drama from Columbia University, and an MFA in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
At Woodward. Jackson will expand his play "HONEYDEW NO.2," anchoring the text in found language (e.g. lab rat studies, court transcripts, and expectant mother Facebook groups), while introducing formal elements from satirical cabaret.
