Gaby FeBland

Gaby is a writer, puppeteer, and illustrator born and raised in Brooklyn. She's a proud co-founder of Foreshadow, an overhead projector shadow puppetry company that performs macabre, fully-scored folktales for adults. Foreshadow was recently awarded a 2024 Jim Henson Foundation Workshop Grant.

Gaby has performed puppetry at the LaMama Puppet Festival, the National Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, “Nightfall” at Green-Wood Cemetery, Dixon Place, and Coney Island U.S.A. among others. Her plays have been produced off-Broadway, at Northwestern University, and at the Frontier Theater in Chicago, and her writing has been published in McSweeney’s and Spider Magazine. She is currently working on her first children’s book.

At Woodward, she’ll be developing a new play that melds overhead projector shadow puppetry, physical theater, toy theatre, masks, and large-scale papier-mâché puppetry to tell the story of the metropolis of rats beneath our feet.
